Booster Club

The Lakeland Athletic Booster Club serves the sports teams of grades 7-12. There is NO athletic participation fee required for the participation of athletes at Lakeland High School. Our main function over the years has been to provide funding for athletic team uniforms and equipment requests. Our annual projects are also intended to promote Viking pride in our teams.

*Providing admission gate workers for the Lakeland athletic department

Quarterly Meeting Minutes

April 19, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm. Minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. There was no treasurer’s report at this time.

Old Business:

The spring snack shack meal deals are going well.

Booster Club has extra apparel for resale. Apparel will be out during the softball Senior Night, April 24th and the final home game May 8th.

Baseball uniforms were purchased and have been worn this season.

Mr. Johnson reported that the frames for the softball bleacher seats seem to be in good condition. The Ag. Department will paint the picnic tables and make improvements to them, if requested.

The Spring Athletic Awards Banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9 at 6 pm in the HS gym. Food, drinks and tableware have all been taken care of. Jamie Ketterman has formatted invitations which will also request that families bring 2 side dishes to the banquet. Rachel Munsch and Keri Towne are making centerpieces for the tables. Jackie Landes is ordering cakes.

New Business:

Funding projects for next year were discussed. It was mentioned that the purchase of an additional grill would be useful because the existing grill is small.

Girls Basketball is next in line for new uniforms.

The same officers will return for the 2018-2019 school year: Stephanie Dull – President, Megan Swaters- Secretary, and Trish Munsterman – Treasurer. It was suggested that anyone interested in holding the role of President, for upcoming years, may want to work with Stephanie this next year to learn the role. Jamie Ketterman made a motion to open a 4th position for a Vice President and was seconded by Sara Fellhoelter. Valerie Meeker accepted this nomination and will be the Vice President for 2018-19 year by executive vote on 4-25-18.

Next meeting date will be Tuesday, August 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the HS library.

Quarterly Meeting Minutes

January 29, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. with the reading of the minutes and treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read. There is a balance on hand of $8,562.

In old business, a funding approval for new baseball uniforms was tabled until more information is provided by Steve Kuchta. Stephanie Dull will check with Justin Cooper in regards to purchasing warm-ups for the girls’ basketball team. Booster Club discussed funding a portion of the costs, once a quote was presented.

The Spring Sports Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, May 9th, at 6:00 p.m. Booster Club will plan on purchasing the meat and asking Brandon Baker or Clint Johnson to smoke the meat. Trish Munsterman will check with Food Fair in Appleton City for prices on meat, in addition to getting an estimated head count for the banquet based upon sports rosters. If Rachel Munsch is willing to plan centerpieces again, Keri Towne will help put these together. Jackie Landes will check with Gladys Kalwei about baking cakes for the banquet, once we get a projected attendance number. Rachel Munsch plans to pick up the consumables for the meal. Closer to time, servers will be asked to work.

Sara Fellhoelter reported no new business regarding ad signs. Most of the previous year’s patrons renewed for this year. Adkin’s Printing will present a final bill towards the end of the school year, as there is very little that remains to be paid.

In new business, the current condition of the softball field’s bleacher seats were discussed. Since they are in such poor condition, replacement of or renovation of the existing seats is needed. Mr. Johnson has been asked to look at the existing metal frames to see if they are reusable. Booster Club would be willing to purchase the new lumber, if Mr. Johnson and his students would work on the renovations. In addition, it was also mentioned that the picnic table could be revamped. Booster Club will price aluminum bleachers in comparison to buying new lumber.

Plans to pass along a snack shack sign-up for spring softball and baseball games was not possible, as those schedules have not yet been finalized. PTSO may be willing to donate their extra hamburger towards the snack shack.

Another ‘meal deal’ is planned for February 13th. It was suggested to have either grilled hamburgers or sloppy joes.

Next meeting date will be April 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the HS library.
