Lakeland R-III Parents and Guardians,
There have been many misleading rumors going around due to a juvenile runaway issue. At no time was a threat made toward the school, or any person at the school. Out of an abundance of caution the school resource officer was onsite all day and we chose not to have outdoor recess. The school was not on lockdown at any time during the day. The juvenile was taken into custody today and is safe.
We are aware of parent’s concerns and will do our best to communicate with you in the future. If there is a crisis or a lockdown situation, you will be alerted through our notification system by phone, text, or email.
Mitch Towne
Superintendent
Lakeland R-III School District

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Ty Conway to Lakeland! He will be teaching High School Mathematics.
My name is Ty Conway. I was born In Kansas, but I have lived most of my life in Missouri. I graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 2017. I married my wife Julianna in June of 2020. She is starting her first year at the Roscoe School District teaching 3-8th grade math.
After high school, I attended Southwest Baptist University where I graduated in 2021. I did my student teaching in Pleasant Hope and I taught Algebra 1 and Geometry at Warsaw High School during my first year as a teacher. I am thankful for the opportunity to continue my career teaching mathematics here at Lakeland High School.
My geometry teacher in high school inspired me to pursue a degree in mathematics education, and I have always loved teaching. I enjoy playing soccer, fixing things, wood working, solving twisty puzzles (Rubik’s cubes), playing board games and playing card games.
Mr. Conway says, "Put effort into everything you do and turn everything in on time. You only go through high school once in your life, so make it count and enjoy this chapter in life. Get involved, attend games and events, build friendships, and volunteer."
