Hello! I am Dr. Deanna Jurkowski (Dr. J) and I am the new superintendent at Lakeland R-III this year. I started my new role on July 1 and have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming school year! My husband, Odin, and I have 5 grown children who are spreading themselves across the country. You may see Odin (also known as the other Dr. J) subbing every now and then.

Most recently, I served the Concordia School District as their HS principal. Before that, I was the K-12 Assistant Principal and Special Education Director in Kingsville and I began my career in public education as their FCS teacher. Over my career I have taught nearly all grades and subjects in some capacity from Pre-K up. I love learning and it is not uncommon for me to get super excited about moving students forward in any and all subjects.

In my free time, I like to sew, cook, and hike, particularly in the mountains. My husband and I also like to kayak on calm waters, but we don't get out to do that as often. I am so excited to join the Lakeland community and I will work hard to live up to the motto on our website - "where teamwork achieves the extraordinary!" I have started to get to know some of you and can't wait to meet more of you at Open House, games, and the many events we host during the school year. Please say hello and introduce yourself!

Hello my name is Amber Eager and I am excited to be the new process coordinator. I am a Lakeland lifer (class of 2010) and have been teaching here since the 2016/2017 school year.
I have lived here in Deepwater my whole life and don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I am a dog mom to one very spoiled dog. In my free time I like to craft, read, plan vacations, and hang out with family.

I have done many jobs here at Lakeland and have enjoyed all of them. Most recently I was a 1st grade teacher and now I am the process coordinator in the special education department. I am the person that you will be in contact with if your child is in special education. This job will be a learning experience, but I am always up to learning something new. I hope everyone is ready for the new school year and I look forward to seeing all the kids.

Hello! My name is Tracy Munsterman and I will be the new counselor for this upcoming school year! I have been teaching at Lakeland for two years and I grew up in this building as well.

I graduated from Lakeland in 2019 and then went on to State Fair Community College to achieve my associates degree. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from UCM in the spring of 2024 and am currently completing my master’s degree through Avila!

Those who were around me growing up know that it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do after high school. It wasn’t until senior year that I realized counseling was my end goal. I loved my short time in the classroom and the relationships I was able to build with my students. It is my hope to build even more with all students at Lakeland!

I can’t wait for this new and exciting journey!

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Lisa Angel to the district as paraprofessional! 💚💛 Hello my name is Lisa Angel I will be a paraprofessional at Lakeland. I am looking forward to seeing what this school year has to bring. I spend my time helping my husband around the farm and with his business along with chasing our kiddo around. Outside of work, I spend my time with family and planning family trips. I have spent my career in healthcare helping others and look forward to a career change in helping your kids learn. I cannot wait to see where this school year takes me.

Please join us in welcoming Mackenzie Collins to the district as central office secretary! 💚💛 Mackenzie graduated from Skyline where she played softball. She is mom to Wrenlee and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Mackenzie is very excited to be working full time at Lakeland in addition to coaching softball.

Elementary Open House - Monday, August 18th

🟢 Preschool: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
🟡 Kindergarten: 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
🟢 1st through 4th grade: 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
🟡 5th and 6th grade: 5:45 pm start in the cafeteria

This allows students to meet their new teacher and drop off school supplies. ✏️

There will be a verification sheet to confirm that your information is correct for returning students. ☑️

Also, please check with your child's teacher to make sure that bus information is correct before you leave. Mr. Keith will be in the office to make any bus changes as necessary. 🚌

The nurse will be in the office if you have medications to drop off. 💊

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Shelby Brownlee to the district as 5th & 6th grade math teacher! 💚💛 Hello! My name is Shelby Brownlee, and I'm excited to be the 5B homeroom teacher and I will also be teaching 5th and 6th grade math. My husband and I both graduated from Lakeland, and our daughter will be starting preschool this year. After teaching 7th-9th grade math for the past 6 years, I'm thrilled to be returning to my home community. We live on a farm just outside of Lowry City where we have cattle, chickens, and a dog. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, crafting, and being outdoors, whether that's hunting, fishing, or helping on the farm. I also love going on vacation, especially to the beach. I'm looking forward to a fantastic school year filled with learning and fun!

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Rafe Kalberloh to the district as PE teacher for grades 8-12! 💚💛 I am going to be teaching PE for grades 8-12 while also coaching junior high girls and boys basketball and being the assistant for the high school boys basketball team. I am a Lakeland lifer. I graduated in 2021, went to college to play basketball and then decided to pursue coaching basketball. I have my associate's degree and I am finishing my bachelor’s degree at UCM in Warrensburg. I am excited to be back here full time and be with all these wonderful kids that I’ve grown close with while subbing and coaching. I’m excited to see what the year brings me and the school and can’t wait to start!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Destiny Richeson to the district as part-time elementary secretary. 💚💛 Destiny stepped into this role during second semester last year to provide support and we are so happy to have her back! Hello, my name is Destiny and I will be the elementary secretary at Lakeland this year alongside Mrs. Peggy. I am a mom of 4 and constantly on the go with sports or just life in general. My favorite hobby is traveling and seeing new things! I'm excited to be joining the Viking family and getting to know more of the kids this year!

The National Honor Society will be hosting 4 Red Cross Blood Drives again this year! Last year we were only 1 donor away from increasing our $500 scholarship to a $1,000 scholarship! The Red Cross now prefers you to sign up online, you can use the QR code to get you there! If you have any questions about signing up, NHS sponsor Ms. Emily Meeker will be happy to walk you through the process or even sign you up herself! Lakeland R-III Schools WILL BE IN SESSION on Wednesday. Bus routes may be limited in some areas of the district due to powerline and tree damage. As of now, field trips will take place as scheduled.

Lakeland R-III School District will be closed on Tuesday, May 20th, due to storm damage. EPCO will be in session; Lakeland students will not attend.
